The fact that you are starting to read this Capsiplex diet pill review suggests you may have heard Capsiplex is a good weight loss product and want to know if it’s true. I can cofirm that it was.

Yes, I had to use the word “was” becasue the Capsiplex diet pill has been discontinued and is not availabe from 2023 onward. But don’t worry.  I’m going to provide information about a good Capsiplex alternative at the end of this review.

Capsiplex was available for more than a decade. I remember when it first came out. I had to write a Capsiplex review for a client’s diet pill website. In fact, I had to write several because the client ran a lot of supplement review sites.

The truth is, Capsiplex was pretty good. If you used it correctly it could help you to lose weight faster than you could without it. However, the product wasn’t suitable for everyone and might have been a poor option for people with overly sensitive stomaches. Even though it was designed to be easy on the digestive organs, some customers complained about heartburn and other stomach issues.

Capsiplex got a big marketing push in June 2010 when the Daily Mail ran an article that said it was a pill that contains an anti-obesity drug and said it had sold-out thee days after it was launched.

The article caused a lot of confusion because it said the main ingredient was Methylcellulose.

The Capsiplex product that was so popular was a fat burner. The main ingredient was capsicum extract. The product that contained Methylcellulose was an appetite suppressant called Capsimax Suppressor.

Although the article showed a picture of a bottle of Capsiplex fat burner, that wasn’t the product being described in the text.

That product was discontinued a long time ago. The original Capsimax fat burner is still available today.

Capsimax got are more credible push the following year when the Emmerdale Farm actress Roxanne Pallett became a Capsimax product ambassador and showed off her curves in a promotional video. Unfortuantely, Pallett’s credibility as a Capsiplex ambassador lost credibily after the “punchgate” incident that ocurred in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2018.

Nevertheless, the product continued to be a hot seller. The same cannot be said for Capsiplex Sport, which was discontinued quite quickly.

Unlike the original Capsimax diet pill, Capsimax Sport was primarily marketed as a pre-workout supplement but it was still a capsicum product that can help people to lose weight.

In this review, I’m going to focus on the original Capsimax fat burning diet pill. It’s an in-depth review. I’ll begin by providing a brief introduction to the product and then move on to looking at the manufacturer’s claims.

Next, I’ll explain what the ingredients are and what they can do. I’ll tell you about any Capsimax side effects too.

As always, I also take a look at the cost of using the product and let you know if it’s likely to provide good value for money.

Capsiplex: The Promised Benefits

  • Increases your body’s metabolic rate
  • Increases energy expenditure
  • Helps you to burn extra calories
  • Helps suppress hunger
  • Reduces body mass and body fat

How Does Capsiplex Work?

A Bottle of Capsiplex fat burning diet pillsCapsiplex is a fat burner. More specifically, it’s a capsule-type supplement you take once per day.

One of the things it aims to do is reduce hunger. When you are trying to lose weight, you need to eat less food. This generally causes hunger. It’s the first and greatest hurdle most dieters have to face. Any product that can reduce hunger can make easier to lose weight and get slim.

As you may be aware, calories are a unit of energy. We use calories to measure how much energy we are putting into our bodies. We also use calories to keep track of how many calories we burn. The only way to lose weight is to take in fewer calories per day than you burn. This forces the body to obtain extra energy by burning it’s fat.

If you want to know more about calories and their relationship with body weight, I have written an article that explains: What Are Calories And How Do You Count Them?

Capsiplex also contains ingredients that increase your body’s resting metabolic rate and energy expenditure.

Your body is always expending (using) energy. That means you are burning calories 24 hours a day. However, when you are sleeping or sitting still, your body only needs to use energy to do the important things such as keeping your heart beating and helping your other organs do the things they have to do. Believe it or not, even thinking requires energy.

Physical movement also requires energy to power it and the more active you are the more energy you need. That’s why exercise is always recommended for anyone who is trying to lose weight.

Exercise raises the metabolic rate and increases energy expenditure. It makes you burn more calories (of energy per day). Certain natural compounds, like capsicum, can do these things too.

By elevating the resting metabolic rate and increasing energy expenditure, the ingredients in Capsiplex can help you burn extra fat per day, even while you are resting.

However, it’s not a miracle pill. Capsiplex will only help you to lose weight if you keep your calorie intake sufficiently low.

Losing Weight: Things to Bear in Mind

All diet pills are supplements. A “supplement” is an addition. Some people work two jobs to “supplement” their income.

Diet pills and other weight loss supplements, supplement the efforts you are already making by controlling your diet and, hopefully, getting some exercise if your health permits it. (Do You Have to Exercise to Lose Weight?)

Who Makes Capsiplex? (A Capsiplex History Lesson)

When I first published this review in March 2020, the Capsiplex diet pill was being sold under the Bauer Nutrition brand name. This was not always the case. The first time I did a Capsiplex review it was for a client’s website. That was back in 2009. At that time Capsiplex was distributed by a Scottish company called Advanced Health Limited.

In mid-2015, the Capsiplex Website stopped selling Capsiplex and began selling Capsiplex Sport instead. There was another change as well. The product was not being marketed by Bauer Group DMCC. The address shown on the site was still the same (10 Payne Street, GLASGOW).

However, Capsiplex had already been listed as a Bauer product on the Bauer Nutrition website for a couple of years so it appears the company had already bought Advanced Nutrition or that Advanced Nutrition was only a trading name.

Either way, although the Capsiplex website was no longer selling the original Capsiplex fat burner it was still possible to buy the original Capsiplex via the Bauer Nutrition website. It continues to be available to this day (information accurate at the time of this review – March 2020).

The Capsiplex website was later taken down and anyone trying to visit the site is redirected to the Capsiplex sales page on the Bauer Nutrition Website.

So Capsiplex was distributed by Bauer Nutrition, which is presently owned by Wolfson Brands. The company is based in Cyprus but operates out of several international offices, one of which is in Glasgow. Wolfson Brands is a reputable company that’s responsible for many leading supplement brands.

Wolfson Brands appears to know its stuff and conduct its business in a reputable way. I believe it’s a company you can trust and Bauer Nutrtion is one of its leading brands.

Capsiplex: List of Ingredients

The key ingredient in Capsiplex is CapsiMax. It’s a branded capsicum extract that has three extra ingredients to provide additional support.

Although CapsiMax is a proprietary blend, Wolfson Berg isn’t trying to make it difficult to judge the potency. The company doesn’t just say Capsiplex  contains CapsiMax, it provides a breakdown of the individual ingredients instead.

Each (500 mg) Capsiplex capsule provides:

  • Caffeine Anhydrous (138 mg)
  • Capsicum (80.34 mg)
  • Niacin (16 mg)
  • Piperine (5 mg)

The capsules also contain unspecified amounts of brown rice flour and magnesium stearate. If you do the mathematics, you will realize these two ingredients account for more than half the capsule content. That’s interesting because the manufacturer does not bill either one as a key ingredient.

A Review of the Ingredients And Their Capabilities

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine anhydrous is an ingredient in many supplement formulations. It’s a high-potency white powder that provides a quick burst of caffeine.

One of the good things about caffeine is its ability to boost energy levels and increase mental focus. It’s one of the most popular legal stimulants in the world.

Caffeine in diet pills can help prevent diet-related fatigue. Research shows caffeine can help you to lose weight.

The first way it helps is by increasing metabolism. Caffeine also increases thermogenesis.

Thermogenesis is an ongoing process that causes the body to disperse energy into the atmosphere as heat.

Here’s a link to a study that demonstrates how caffeine can influence weight loss: Normal Caffeine Consumption: Influence on Thermogenesis and Daily Energy Expenditure in Lean and Postobese Human Volunteers.

Each Capsiplex capsule provides slightly more caffeine than you would get from a standard-strength cup of coffee. However, it will be hit your system much faster than the caffeine you would get by drinking a cup of coffee.

If you are unusually sensitive to caffeine, its presence in the formulation may cause you to experience jitters and/or other caffeine-related side effects but most people should be okay.

Capsicum

Chili Peppers ( A Source of Capsaicin)Capsicum red pepper extracts provide capsaicinoids (capsaicin). It’s the compound that puts the fire in hot chili peppers. All members of the capsicum family contain capsaicin in varying amounts.

Research shows the capsaicin peppers provide can assist weight loss by suppressing appetite. Here’s a link to a study conducted at Laval University (Ste-Foy, Québec, Canada): Effects of Red Pepper on Appetite and Energy Intake

However, the compound is more highly valued for its ability to support accelerated fat burning by increasing metabolism and thermogenesis.  Several studies show the capsaicin in red peppers is a natural fat burner that works.

Researchers at Maastricht University in the Netherlands evaluated the data from 30 of the studies and confirm the the ingredient’s ability to promote fat burning without causing any significant increase in blood pressure: Acute Effects of Capsaicin on Energy Expenditure and Fat Oxidation in Negative Energy Balance.

Capsicum is a very good natural fat burner, but in its normal state, it may cause some people to experience heartburn and other digestive issues. The manufacturer gets around this by using a special “Omnibead” technology that locks the fiery compounds inside and does not release them until the Omnibead is in the intestines. This delaying action helps prevent gastric distress.

Niacin

Niacin is also known as Vitamin B3. One of the things it does is help the body make use of the energy provided by food. It’s a common trait with B Vitamins that’s why niacin and/or other B Vitamins are key ingredients in energy drinks.

Black Pepper: A Source of PiperinePiperine

Piperine is an alkaloid. It’s naturally occurring in black pepper. Supplement manufacturers often use piperine extracts because piperine helps the body absorb other ingredients. In so doing it enhances their potency and makes them work more quickly.

Additional Ingredients

The other two ingredients are probably included as binders and fillers.

Magnesium stearate is often used as a flow agent. One of the things it’s good for is stopping the formulation from sticking to the machinery used in the production process. It also helps prevent the ingredients from clumping together.

Brown rice is a nutritious ingredient that provides several vitamins and minerals and is high in natural fiber.

Eating brown rice may assist in weight loss because it’s high in natural fiber. This makes it good for filling up the stomach. However, the amount of brown rice a Capsiplex capsule provides won’t be enough to offer any benefit. It’s probably only included to give the capsule contents a little extra bulk. (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/is-brown-rice-good-for-you)

The Truth About the Capsiplex Ingredient Profile

OmniBead is a patented technology that’s used for a capsicum extract called CapsiMax.

CapsiMax OmniBead TechnologyCapsiMax was developed by OmniActive Health Technologies. The company sells it to diet pill manufacturers who wish to use it in their products.

Capsicum is not the only ingredient encapsulated in the OmniBead. The ingredient also contains caffeine, niacin, and piperine. (https://omniactives.com/capsimax/)

So, although the Capsiplex marketing material does not state it, the capsules are a combination of CapsiMax, brown rice flour, and magnesium stearate.

This is not an issue. I only point it out to help avoid confusion. The important thing to know is, CapsiMax is generally believed to be the best capsicum extract in the world. It’s not just a good weight loss ingredient, it’s one of the best.

How to Use Capsiplex

If you want good results from this product you will need to use it alongside a low-calorie diet. It will also help if you try to get more exercise.

You only take one Capsiplex capsule each day. The manufacturer states it’s best to take it is in the morning unless exercise is on the agenda. On exercise days, the best thing to do is take Capsiplex 30-60 minutes before training.

Although the manufacturer does not offer this recommendation, if you are planning on using this product I suggest you take it alongside a meal. Doing so will help line the stomach to offer extra protection against heartburn.

Words of Wisdom

If you are pregnant or nursing a child, please don’t take any kind of supplement without getting clearance from your doctor first.

If you have an existing medical condition of any kind at all, it would also be unwise to use supplements without checking with your doctor first.

Certain supplement ingredients can present interaction issues when combined with medication. It doesn’t matter if the medication has been prescribed by a doctor, a dentist, or another medical professional. If you are taking medication, don’t use it with supplements without asking a doctor first.

Does Capsiplex Have Honorable Customer Reviews?

The former Emmerdale Farm (UK TV series) Roxanne Pallett had nothing but good things to say about the product. She stated it’s natural, has no side effects and fitted easily into her daily lifestyle. As far as the results go, Roxanne stated Capsiplex helped her to lose weight without having to deprive herself. Although many people no longer consider her trustworthy, based on my knowledge of the ingredients and their abilities, I believe her words were true.

Emmerdale Farm Actress Roxanne Pallette Says Capsiplex Helps Her Keep In Shape
Roxanne Pallett

The former UK glamour girl and Page 3 pin-up model Nicola McLean was also a fan. Known for being one of the “Sexiest Girls in Britain”, Nicola said Capsiplex helped her to keep her figure in perfect shape.

It’s good that Roxanne Pallett and Nicola McLean had such good things to say about the product but they were both former Capsiplex ambassadors. Time is money so it’s likely they were paid for their endorsements.

Bearing in mind the credentials the main ingredients have, it seems likely that both ladies have had genuine success with the product. However, I still prefer to see what normal customers have to say.

Needless to say, I’m not going to trust the reviews available on the Bauer Nutrition website. I see that as being a biased source and would rather see what Amazon customers are saying instead. When I visited the various Amazon sites to examine customer feedback for the purposes of this Capsiplex diet pill review, I found a mixture of good and bad reviews. Some people love the product, others say it does not work.

Does Capsiplex Cause Side Effects?

HeadacheI found several reviews left by customers complaining the pills gave them heartburn. That suggests the OmniBead technology may not always be 100% efficient. However, such reports are in the minority most people appear to be able to use Capsiplex without experiencing any side effects at all. I also can’t help but wonder if the people who got heartburn were chewing the capsules instead of swallowing them whole.

It’s possible people who are very sensitive to caffeine may find using the capsules causes them to experience jitters, headaches, or other caffeine-related side effects. However, the caffeine content is not particularly high (a little more than a cup of coffee) and, if you are unusually sensitive to caffeine there is a good chance you will already know it and realize this is a product to avoid.

I was surprised to see a few reviewers mentioning flushing of the skin but I made the connection straight away. The symptoms they describe are those you normally get when experiencing niacin flush. This sometimes occurs when you take high doses of niacin, but Capsiplex only provides 16 mg. That’s not particularly high.

Sixteen milligrams is the niacin RDA for men. The RDA for women is 14 mg per day. However, niacin flush does not present any dangers. Supplements often provide doses that are higher than the RDA and research shows it’s rare for flushing to occur with doses that are less than 35 mg per day. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK114304/)

With this in mind, I can’t help but wonder if the individuals that report flushing were also drinking energy drinks or using Capsiplex alongside other products that provide high levels of niacin.

Customer reviews suggest most Capsiplex users don’t experience side effects but if you have any doubts about this or any other supplement, the best thing to do is ask your doctor for advice.

The Best Place to Buy Capsiplex

A Bottle of Capsiplex Fat BurnerThere used to be two main ways to buy Capsiplex. The best option was to buy it directly from the Bauer Nutrition website. It always had the best prices.

The second option wass to buy it from Amazon but going that route didn’t allow people to take advantage of discounts or special deals.

As far as the price goes, Capsiplex is was not unduly expensive. A 30-day supply of Capsiplex only  costs £54.99. That’s not bad at all. Especially for such a good quality product.

Buying Capsiplex was even cheaper when you take advantage of special deals.

The first way to save money wass to order two boxes of Capsiplex instead of one. When people did this, the manufacturer gave them a third box of Capsiplex free of charge.

It was also possible to get five boxes of Capsiplex for the price of three. An offer like that delivers a significant savings and, as is always the case with Bauer Nutrtion, there was never any need to worry about additional charges for shipping and the product had the backing of a 60-day money-back guarantee. Obviously none of this is relevant now that Capsiplex is no longer available.

Capsiplex Review — Diet Pill Ninja Conclusion

The Diet Pill Ninja: Honorable Diet Pill ReviewsCapsiplex was a pretty good product that worked well for a lot of people but it’s success is not suprising. The formulation had natural weight loss ingredients that have proven capabilities. The thing that does surprise me is Capsiplex is no longer available.

Although some people claimed they failed to lose weigh with Capsplex, even though they were using it alongside a low-calorie diet, you cannot argue with science. Capsicum extract boosts metabolism. So does caffeine. The ingedients section of my Capsiplex review provides links to studies that show this.

That being the case, the people who failed to lose weight must have failed to keep an accurate track of the number of calories they were eating. It’s not just about choosing low-calorie options, you need to keep your overall calorie intake low. If you need further explanation and guidance, I have an article that can help: What Are Calories And How Do You Count Them?

If you are looking for a cheap fat burner that works, Capsiplex was a good option.Unfortunately, it’s no longer an option so the only purpose this review serves now is to help people to find a good capsiplex alternative.

So, what is the best alternative to Capsiplex? The best option I have found is Slim Kick. Like Capsiplex, it’s a diet pill that’s provides a combination of caffeine and capsicum extract. It also provides green tea. Like Capsicum, green tea is one of the best natural fat burning ingredients in the world. The formulation has a few other excellent inclusion as well, including L. carnitine.Bottle of SlimKick Chilli Fat Burner

L. carnitine is an amino acid that aids fat loss. It does a lot of other things as well includinng boosting energy and aiding cellular repair.

If you were hoping to lose weight with Capsiplex and are now seeking a good alternative, Slim Kick is the best substitute I know. In addition to its ability to work like Capsiplex, the cost of using Slim Kick also works in its favor. Last time I updated this review (April 2024), a 30-day supply  of Slim Kick was around 50% cheaper than it used to cost for a 30-day supply of Capsiplex. That’s a big saving. In addition to being an excellent alternative to Capsiplex, Slim Kick is also a great choice for anyone who needs to lose weight on a tight budget.
